Last night was Joel and Kat’s rehearsal dinner. It was a fun time eating pizza, watching the Spurs game and most importantly, learning about Kat and Joel’s lives separately and also together. I absolutely love learning about relationships, so this was a treat to me since I barely knew Joel (he graduated and moved to CA the semester after I met Cobalt) and I hadn’t met Kat until two days ago at the beach. Of …

Summer Adventure 2013: Day 6
Besides figuring out suit complications, and it being wedding eve for Joel and Kat, today hasn’t been super eventful for us. Waking early again from the click, click, click of doggy nails on the floor above, I breakfasted earlier than yesterday even though our meal last night was large. Cinnamon toast with butter, plus an over easy egg. Regretfully, I didn’t make Cobalt breakfast, but he grabbed some Thai leftovers before we left the house. While Cobalt ran some groomsmen errands …
Summer Adventure 2013: Day 5
Santa Monica Beach This morning we woke to the sound of quick walking, dish clattering and pitter pattering upstairs; a baby crying and a rooster crowing next door (the windows are always open in the house since my relatives don’t have A/C). Having lived in basements for two years, I am slightly used to it — even comforted by the noise, so though I woke earlier than I ended to (thus waking up Cobalt), I really didn’t mind. Working …
Summer Adventure 2013: Day 4
After driving for three days and getting in late each night, it was nice to sleep in a bit today. Also, we had much less of a drive ahead, having slept in Kingman instead of Flagstaff last night. Regarding this, today was also a good day to drive the longest stretch of desert of our trip because it wasn’t nearly as boring as we were expecting. It was quite exciting, actually!! First off, we really …
Summer Adventure 2013: Day 3
Today we visited the Petrified Forest in AZ on the way to Flagstaff Painted Desert: Part of the Petrified Forest, AZ Absolutely stunning. Felt like we were in candy land, or some Neapolitan ice cream world! Cobalt and I in front of one of the overlooks of the painted desert Petrified Forest: Painted Desert: Painted Desert Inn Petrified Forest: Painted Desert: Cactus on a pathway Petrified Forest The actual petrified forest wasn’t as impressive as the desert …
Summer Adventure 2013: Begins
As of yesterday, Cobalt and I have been on our way to California! It’s already been such an adventure so far, as neither of us have been on a legit road-trip before. We left around 8am yester-morning, Cobalt starting off our trip, taking the scenic route to I-40 (it was supposed to be quicker both in time and mileage). On the way we ran into speed traps galore, saw a man costumed up in his …
A Cloud of Algae
Plop. “Oh no!” I cried as I watched the water ripple into endless circles. I saw that this was going to happen just five seconds before, yet stood frozen with unbelief. “Grab the net! Grab the NET!” Cyan pointed to the corner of the deck. “I can’t even see it.” I said as I gazed into the water. I tried using the net but it was hopeless. All the memories I had collected for the …
Summer Has Begun!. . .Almost.
Phew! Since since school let out, I’ve felt even more tired than during school. But thankfully, I am more physically exhausted than mentally exhausted. Seems like I can recover quicker from a full day making the yard pretty than a full day studying unnecessary information for a test. So far our summer has been relatively uneventful. Quite honestly I don’t feel like it’s even started yet. Maybe because it’s not uber hot? Maybe because Cobalt …
Our First Easter
When I was little – about middle school aged – the coolest thing happened on Easter: The electricity had been out for a few days around town (for what I can’t remember) and everyone on Saturday was worried that we’d not meet for church when it came to Sunday morning. Nevertheless, the pastor agreed to meet anyway. It’s about time we Baptists perfected our a capella, right? ;-) I don’t actually remember the sound of …
The Joys of Gardening: Harvest

Our Breakfast Table
My favorite part of our house. The bright happy colors, the painting that sings “You are My Sunshine” that Dad gave us at our wedding, and the promise of a good (and blessed!) meal make me smile :)
Summer Trip 2013
Hubby and I have the most fantastic opportunity to have the adventure of a lifetime. Our friends are getting married in LA this summer, so Cobalt and I thought we’d make a road trip out of it! Honeymoon number two you could say. We’ll be leaving from Chatt town and stopping at key places along the way. Can you make them out? :) In addition, to save money, we’re planning on bringing food and camping …

New Year’s Letter
Bob Schellhammer photography To our dearest friends and family: We pray your Christmas was as pleasurable as ours! For us, the whole month was a refreshing rest from all the planning and busyness before and since our union in June. Having the free time to clean the house for guests, joyfully host friends and family, sleep in, stay up late, and spend time with each other and our families was a blessing like …
